About this site...

I decided to create this Web site as a means of providing the living descendants of James Smith Dudley with a way to view and share old photos of their ancestors through several generations.

The home page shows the relationships between the various individuals and provides links to pages for each individual.

Most of the pictures were scanned at 300 dpi, which results in rather large images on most computer screens, so reduced images are used with the captions on the individual pages. However, in most instances, clicking on the images will display the full-size scan. These large images are suitable for printing, and the files can be saved if you wish. Use your browser's Back button to return to individual pages or to the graphical index page.

Some of the images have been enhanced slightly to remove major blemishes or to improve contrast, clarity, or brightness-- but most have been left unaltered for the time being. I expect that it will take awhile to complete this project, so be sure to check back occasionally to see what's new.

August 19, 2005 Update:
Most, if not all, of the very old pictures are now present. I have chosen what seemed like a good representation of the more recent photos for inclusion. At this point, the project is essentially complete with the exception of Benjamin Harmon Dudley Jr. His page should be updated soon.

Another recent change is the updated photo index page graphic that shows relationships by descending arrows for offspring, and horizontal lines to designate marriages. Also, the Dudley, Harmon, Hastings, and Bird families are differentiated by color.
